Consul General Chen Shijie attended the 2024 New Zealand Chinese Food and Culture Festival on 17 November. The event was organized by the Waitakere Chinese Association. MP Nancy Lu, Hon. MP Phil Twyford, Hon. MP Deborah Russell and hundreds of guests from different sectors of Auckland attended the event.

Consul General Chen stated in his speech that the Chinese cuisine is world-renowned for its regional diversity and creative artistry, which embodies the harmony and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. The New Zealand Chinese Food and Culture Festival is not only a Chinese food feast, but also a Chinese cultural event. The Consulate-General looks forward to working with Kiwi friends and fellow Chinese compatriots to deepen the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries with more bridges of cultural exchange.
Art groups from the Chinese community brought splendid cultural performances, including traditional Chinese dancing, folk music, Kung Fu and Peking Opera, which won warm applause from the audience.
