On December 23, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang attended the handover ceremony of bulletproof vests donated by China to the National Capital District Police of PNG at the Boroko Police Station in Port Moresby. Assistant Police Commissioner for the NCD and Central, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Turi, the head and representatives of the Port Moresby Police, and representatives of the China-PNG Friendship Association attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Yang Xiaoguang said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and PNG has developed steadily in recent years, and cooperation in various fields including police has continued to achieve pragmatic results. China is willing to continue to provide PNG with all possible assistance in police capacity building and support the PNG police to better protect Chinese companies and overseas Chinese in PNG, and create a safer environment for cooperation between the two countries.
Turi thanked China for its long-term support for PNG’s economic and social development, and said that the donation will help enhance the security capabilities of the PNG police. The PNG police is willing to continuously strengthen cooperation with the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese community to better protect the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in PNG.
