On 15 January 2025, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane Dr Ruan Zongze met with Premier of Queensland Hon David Crisafulli, to exchange views friendly on promoting bilateral relations. Director-General of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet Mr Damien Walker, Deputy Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate-General Ms Li Suyun and colleagues attended the meeting.
Dr Ruan said that the economies of China and Australia are highly complementary which is mutually beneficial and win-win. China is the largest trading partner of Australia as well as of Queensland. China is committed to high-level opening up. China's high-quality development will bring greater opportunities for Australia and the world. The practical cooperation, cultural exchanges and local interactions between China and Queensland have achieved fruitful results. The Chinese Consulate-General is ready to work closely with the Queensland state government to make new contributions to promoting the bilateral relations.
Premier Crisafulli said that the new Queensland state government attaches great importance to developing relations with China and follows One China policy, will actively strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, education, tourism, sister cities, etc. Chinese communities in Queensland have made significant contributions to economic development and multiculturalism. He is willing to maintain exchanges with Dr Ruan and jointly advance the bilateral relations to bring about more fruitful results.
