On January 17, the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Laoag held the 2025 Spring Festival Reception at Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel. More than 300 guests attended the said event, including Mayor Albert Chua of Batac City of Ilocos Norte, Mayor William Mamba of Tuao City of Cagayan, as well as representatives of the Filipino-Chinese Community leaders, the Chinese enterprises and the Chinese students.

During his speech, Consul and Head of Post Ren Faqiang extended his warmest Chinese New Year's greetings to everyone. He introduced that in the previous year, under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, new progress has been made in China's modernization. He also congratulated the Philippines on its progress in economic and social development, and looked back on the new achievements of local exchanges and cooperation between China and Northern Luzon. Consul Ren expressed his gratitude to the overseas Chinese and Filipino friends in the region for their active support to the friendship between the two countries.

Mayor William Mamba and other government officials, as well as representatives of the Filipino-Chinese community, also delivered their speeches respectively, greeting everyone a “Happy Chinese New Year” and wishing China-Philippines relations a new progress in this new year.

The guests were fascinated by the superb performances of faculty and students of Bell Church Lion, Dragon and Martial Arts Team, Mariano Marcos State University, Paoay National High School, and the representative of Chinese overseas students.
