On January 17, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E.Yang Xiaoguang attended the handover ceremony of Equipment for the China-Aid Anti-Drug Laboratory in Port Moresby. Acting Commissioner Mr.Yamasombi, Assistant Commissioner Mr.Ette, representatives of the PNG police and diplomats from the Chinese Embassy attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Yang Xiaoguang said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and PNG has developed rapidly in recent years. Cooperation in various fields, including police affairs, has continued to produce pragmatic outcomes. The Chinese government is actively committed to promoting global drug governance and striving to build a "Community with a Shared Future for Mankind" that is not harmed by drugs. The Chinese side is willing to provide PNG with technical training in combating drugs and continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of police affairs between the two countries.
Mr.Yamasombi thanked the Chinese Government for its support to PNG in combating drug crimes and maintaining social stability, and said that the drug laboratory will help the PNG police improve the drug detection capability and increase the effort to combat drug crimes. The PNG police is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation on drug control with the Chinese side and further protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and citizens in PNG.
