On January 17, Consul General Huang Shifang paid a courtesy call on Datuk SH Sitti Saleha Habib, the Director of the Sabah State Immigration Department of Malaysia, to discuss ways to enhance personnel exchanges between China and the consular district, as well as to safeguard the rights and interests of Chinese citizens. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Consul General Ouyang Huifeng and senior officials from the Sabah Immigration Department.
Consul General Huang emphasized that 2024 marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. She highlighted the successful implementation of the reciprocal visa exemption policy and the continued growth in personnel exchanges, noting a significant increase in the number of Chinese citizens visiting Sabah. She expressed appreciation to the Sabah Immigration Department for its support in ensuring the smooth entry and legal stay of Chinese nationals and urged the Department to take effective steps to protect the legal rights of Chinese citizens and institutions in Sabah.
Director Datuk Sitti expressed the Sabah Immigration Department's commitment to strengthen communication and collaboration with the Consulate General. She reaffirmed the Department's readiness to facilitate further personnel exchanges between China and Sabah State, contribute to the building of a community with a shared future between China and Malaysia.
