Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Guo Haiyan Presents Letter of Credence as Permanent Representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat

On 22 January, H.E. Guo Haiyan, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), presented the Letter of Credence to Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, the Under-Secretary-General of United Nations and Director-General of the UN Office at Nairobi (UNON).

Ambassador Guo spoke highly of Ms. Bangura’s achievements during her tenure as Director-General of UNON, emphasizing China's unwavering commitment to upholding the international system with the United Nations at its core and its strong support for the UN's central role in international affairs. She expressed her readiness to work closely with Ms. Bangura to further strengthen the partnership between China, UNEP, UN-Habitat, and UNON.

Ms. Bangura expressed welcome to the Ambassador on assuming her new post. She thanked China for its consistent and long-standing support for UNON and expressed her hope to deepen cooperation between UN agencies in Nairobi and China.
