Chinese Consulate-General in Brisbane Holds 2025 Chinese New Year Reception

On 22 January 2025, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane held a Chinese New Year Reception at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Center. Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, Hon David Crisafulli MP, Premier and Minister for Veterans, the Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Adrian Schrinner, Mr Michael Ma, President of Queensland Chinese United Council attended and delivered speeches. Deputy Consul-General Yang Chenqi presided over the reception. Deputy Consul-General Li Suyun and about 500 representatives from all walks of life of Queensland participated. 

Consul-General Dr Ruan introduced the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the major achievements of China's development in 2024. He said that China-Australia relations have achieved important development at present. The Chinese Consulate-General actively expands the platform for China and Queensland local cooperation, implementing "diplomacy for the people", and writes a new chapter for people-to-people friendship. We sincerely invite everyone to visit China and experience China in the new era. Consul General Dr Ruan pointed out that China's reunification will inject more positive energy into world prosperity and stability.

The guests expressed their appreciation of the contributions made by overseas Chinese to the economic and cultural development of Queensland and their willingness to support the development of Australia-China relations.
