On 22January, the Chinese Consulate General in Belfast hostedthe 2025 Spring Festival Reception. Consul General Li Nan attended and delivered a speech. Nearly 300 guests from the political, business, cultural and educational circles of Northern Ireland, as well as overseas Chinese and international students attended.
Consul General Li extended his warmest Chinese New Year's greetings to everyone. He introduced the cultural significance of the Spring Festival and its worldwide impact. He also reviewed China's achievements in development over the past year and the fruitful cooperation between China and NI.He noted that the Chinese Consulate General is committed to maintaining its original aspiration of friendship and cooperation, and will continue to strengthen communication and build more bridges of friendship with all walks of life, thus contributing more positive energy to the healthy and stable development of China-UK relations from the local level.
Edwin Poots, Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly and other VIP guests expressed their New Year greetings in Chinese, wishing for the long-lasting friendship between both sides.
The reception featured Irish dancing, duet, Peking opera, fan dance, violin duet, face-changing and other wonderful performances, and reached its climax with the chorus of “My Motherland and I” by the Consulate General staff. The atmosphere was cheerful, warm, festive and harmonious.
