On February 2, Consul General Guo Shaochun and his wife Madame Wang Wei attended the Lunar New Year Celebration held by San Diego Zoo. President and CEO of the Zoo Mr. Paul Baribault and over 100 people including local students, parents, teachers and visitors joined the event.
Consul General Guo shared the culture and traditions of Chinese Spring Festival, highly appreciated the San Diego Zoo’s fruitful outcomes of its giant panda conservation cooperation with China. He stressed the importance of enhancing dialogues and exchanges between the two peoples. American youths are most welcome to visit and study in China so as to solidify China-US friendship.
President Baribault extended New Year wishes to the participants and spoke highly of the Zoo’s collaboration and partnership with Chinese counterparts. He recognized the giant pandas’ return as a milestone, which proved a powerful reminder that together we can make the impossible possible for wildlife conservation.
The Zoo was filled with the festive vibe. Visitors had a wonderful experience of writing down their new year wishes, making cultural crafts and enjoying panda plush toys. The guests were amazed by two lovely giant pandas Yun Chuan and Xin Bao.
