On February 4, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Fan Yong paid a courtesy call to Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs Hon. Lesego Chombo.

Ambassador Fan introduced the ten partnership actions of the FOCAC Beijing Summit 2024 and extended the willingness to expanding exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in youth, women, children and culture, strengthening experience sharing in gender equality and women’s empowerment, and further promoting people-to-people bond.

Hon. Lesego Chombo thanked Chinese government and the Chinese Embassy in Gaborone for the long-term assistance and support for the development of Botswana youth. She looks forward to further deepening bilateral cooperation with China, driving more young people and women to find jobs and start businesses, and therefore strengthening the social foundation for the friendship between Botswana and China.
