On February 5, 2025, Consul General Long Dingbin attended the Chinese New Year Gala Dinner hosted by Australia China Business Council WA Branch and China Chamber of Commerce in Australia Perth Branch. Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti, Deputy Mayor of Perth Bruce Reynolds, Director of WA State Office of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Sally Dawkins, WA State Director of Austrade Jane Caforrio, Director General of Department of jobs tourism Science and Innovation Rebecca Brown, President of Australia China Business Council WA Branch James Clarke, Honorary President of China Chamber of Commerce in Australia Perth Branch David Sun, and executives from Fortescue, Roy Hill among other representatives from the Western Australian business community, totaling nearly 400 people, were in attendance.
Consul General Long stated that in 2024, China-Australia relations returned to the right track, Premier Li Qiang paid a successful visit to Western Australia, and the practical cooperation between China and Western Australia has brought more benefits to both sides. Although there remain uncertainties and challenges in 2025, he firmly believes that exchanges and cooperation between China and Western Australia will be further strengthened.
In their speeches, Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti and representatives from the Western Australian business community emphasized the significance of the Chinese market and the importance of cooperation between China and Western Australia, expressing their expectations for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
