On February 6th, H.E. Ambassador Liu Weimin called on Hon. Uhilamoelangi Fasi，Tonga's new Minister for Education and Training, as well as Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

Ambassador Liu congratulated him on his appointment, both sides exchanged views on cooperation in education and marine resources. Liu said, in recent years, cooperation in the field of education between China and Tonga has yielded fruitful results. Tongan people have benefited a lot from Chinese Government Scholarship, the China-aid Tonga High School Sports Stadium Project, and various capacity-building training programmes held in China. China is ready to work with Tonga to deepen cooperation in education and marine resources to make contributions to Tongan social development and enhance friendship between China and Tonga.

Hon. Fasi appreciated China’s long-term support for Tonga's education, and agreed to further strengthen cooperation with China in education sector, and explore marine resources joint development.
