On February 12, Ambassador Liu Weimin met with Dr. Pāunga, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Tonga National University, along with former Interim Vice Chancellor Dr. Steen and other representatives.

Ambassador Liu first congratulated Dr. Pāunga on his new appointment and pointed out that the cooperation between China and Tonga in higher education has made positive progress, contributing significantly to deepening the friendly relations between the two countries.The Chinese Embassy expressed its willingness to strengthen communication and exchange with Tonga National University, actively serve as a bridge to promote deeper cooperation, and support the development of the university.

Dr. Pāunga thanked the Embassy sincerely for its long-term support and assistance. He emphasized that the university attaches great importance to cooperation with China and has already established good relationships with several Chinese universities. He expressed his hope to continue deepening cooperation, enhance exchanges and launch more joint projects.
