Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian Attends the 2025 Canberra Chinese New Year Gala

On February 10, 2025, Ambassador Xiao Qian attended the 2025 Canberra Chinese New Year Gala held at the Great Hall of Australian Parliament House and delivered a speech. Hundreds of people attended this event, including Minister for Finance of Australia Katy Gallagher, MP Sam Lim, Minister for Multicultural Affairs of the ACT Michael Peterson, and President of the Federation of Chinese Associations of ACT Gu Hao.

Ambassador Xiao extended Chinese New Year's greetings to the Chinese community in Canberra and the attending guests. He highlighted that the Spring Festival originated in China and has been officially listed as a representative work of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, becoming a treasure shared by all mankind. Over the past year, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries,China-Australia relations have made a comprehensive turnaround, bringing benefits to the two countries and their people. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Australian side to promote greater progress in the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Australia, and looks forward to the Canberra Chinese community continued bridging role in the process of promoting China-Australia friendship.

Gallagher and others congratulated the Chinese community in Canberra on the Chinese New Year in their speeches, fully acknowledging the contribution of the Chinese community to the diverse society of Australia.

During the event, artistic groups from Chinese communities in Canberra, Sydney and other place performed a variety of colorful programs.
