On February 15, San Francisco Chinese Chamber of Commerce held a Chinese New Year Parade. Consul General Zhang Jianmin and his wife Zheng Xin attended the parade on a float. California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, State Comptroller Malia Cohen, State Senator Scott Wiener, State Assemblymember Matt Haney and Catherine Stefani, as well as San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Rafael Mandelman, Chinese Chamber of Commerce President Donald Luu and other local dignitaries, Chinese community leaders and representatives from all walks of life attended the event.
Consul General Zhang Jianmin and his wife sent New Year greetings to the audience. They also lit firecrackers with City Supervisor Mandelman, President Luu and others to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
A total of 21 floats from the San Francisco Bay Area and across the United States, along with more than 130 teams from government agencies, businesses, and community organizations, participated in the parade. Tens of thousands of people joined the celebration, bringing performances of lion dances, Chinese Kungfu, drum music, and folk dances. Spectators lined the streets, clapping and cheering in celebration. ABC7, KTSF, and other media outlets broadcasted the event live.
