Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian Attends the Handover Ceremony for Jiangsu-donated Solar Lights to Fiji

The handover ceremony for solar streetlights donated by China’s Jiangsu province to Fiji was held in Suva on February 19th. Present at the event were Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian, Fiji’s Minister for Housing and Local Government, Hon. Maciu Nalumisa, and representatives from city councils. 

Ambassador Zhou said that this donation will light the way to prosperity for Fijian villagers, ignite the beacon of hope in combating climate change, and open a new chapter for China-Fiji friendship. He emphasized that China and Fiji are both members of the Global South, good friends and trusted partners who support each other through challenges. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to providing sincere assistance without attaching any political conditions, and walking hand-in-hand with Fiji toward poverty reduction, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.  

Hon. Maciu Nalumisa expressed his gratitude for China’s generous donation. He commended China as a good partner which has always supported Fiji in various areas such as infrastructure, education and health, and applauded this donation as a testimony to China-Fiji friendship.
