On 24 February, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu Li Minggang paid a courtesy call to Hon. Ralph Regenvanu, the Minister of Climate Change Adaptation, Meteorology and Geo-Hazards, Energy, Environment and National Disaster Management of the Republic of Vanuatu.
H.E. Li congratulated Hon. Regenvanu on his new appointment. Li said, China is firmly committed to green and low-carbon development and attaches great importance to climate response. China is ready to work with Vanuatu on deepening climate change cooperation and making constant contributions to the global response to climate change according to the goals and principles set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.
Hon. Regenvanu thanked China for its valuable help in climate change response and disaster prevention and relief. Hon. Regenvanu said climate change response is always one of the priorities in Vanuatu’s foreign policy. Vanuatu is ready to deepen cooperation with China on renewable energy development, carbon emission reduction and other related areas, making constant efforts to realize Vanuatu 2030 sustainable goals.
