Chinese Consul General in Brisbane Ruan Zongze Meets with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland Hon Patrick Weir

On 24 February 2025, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane Dr Ruan Zongze extended a courtesy call to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland Hon Patrick Weir at the Queensland Parliament House, to exchange views friendly on promoting China-Australia and China-Queensland relations. Deputy Consul-General of the Chinese Consulate-General Ms Li Suyun and colleague were present.

Dr Ruan said that the China and Queensland cooperation in various fields has a good tradition and strong resilience. It is hoped that the Parliament of Queensland will continue to support exchanges and mutual learning between China and Australia, deepen cooperation in economy, trade, education, science and technology, and explore cooperation opportunities in new energy, agriculture, the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games and other fields.

Speaker Weir highly appreciated the contribution of overseas Chinese living in Queensland to local economic and social development and multicultural construction, and is willing to maintain communication with the Chinese Consulate-General and promote exchanges and cooperation between Australia and China in various fields, including exchanges between legislative bodies.
