On 26th February, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, visited Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu, which was built by China as an aid project in the 1970's.
Together with Deputy Minister of Health and Human Services of Somalia Dr. Mohamed Hassan Mohamed Bulale and Director of Banadir Hospital Dr. Fartun Sharif Mohamed, Ambassador Wang was briefed on the hospital's past and present, visited facilities such as the maternal and infant wards as well as the ICU center, and had cordial exchanges with patients and medical professionals of the hospital.
Ambassador Wang spoke highly of the significant role of Banadir Hospital as a symbol of China-Somalia friendship and expressed China's readiness to work with Somalia to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) , including strengthening the bilateral cooperation in fields such as medical care and public health, so as to benefit the Somali people.
Dr. Fartun and others thanked Ambassador Wang for his visit, extolled the virtue of the Chinese friends to help the Somali people, and expressed the aspirations for a close communication with the Chinese side on further promoting the hospital's functions and role in the new year.
