On April 7, Chargé d'affaires a.i.of the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia Zhao Shangsen paid a courtesy call on Hon. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia.
Zhao Shangsen thanked Hon. Mamadou Tangara for gracing the performance in The Gambia by the Chinese Percussion Ensemble. Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara, shared his thought on People-to-people exchanges, citing the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China as the right way forward, and that in place of “Clash of civilizations”, respect for diversity of civilizations, and robust people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation should be advocated.
The two sides exchanged views on enhancement of bilateral ties. Furthermore, Zhao Shangsen briefed the Honorable Minister on China’s Position regarding U.S. Tariffs impositions.
Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara commended China’s robust advancement in its national development and international leadership. He reaffirmed commitment to the One-China Policy, citing it as the principled position of the Republic of The Gambia. In international business, The Gambia maintains a clear position supporting the principles of free trade and economic globalization as important pathways for growth and development. The country values international cooperation and seeks to foster strong partnerships that promote mutual benefit.
