On 18 April 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, accompanied by the embassy staff and their families, was invited to visit the house of Ms. Georgette Gardiner. They engaged warmly with Ms. Gardiner’s parents and local community members. The Hon. Fred Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, was also in attendance.
Ambassador Yan, Mr. Peng Jing, commercial attache and Mr. Song Rong, youth representative from the Embassy, were interviewed by mainstream media. They highlighted China’s long-term commitment to providing exchange and training opportunities in line with The Bahamas’ development strategy, enabling more Bahamians to gain a genuine understanding of China and enhance their professional capacity. Ms. Gardiner was the first Bahamian community representative to participate in a training program related to the Belt and Road Initiative in China, where she demonstrated outstanding performance. Her experience has helped promote awareness of China’s major initiatives and concepts across Bahamian society, strengthening the people-to-people foundation of China-Bahamas friendship.
Ms. Gardiner shared her reflections on her visit to China, saying the training was "the game changer" and empowered her life and that she is fully committed to advancing China-Bahamas friendship. She and her parents actively shared their experiences on social media and gave multiple interviews, generating a strong public response.
