On April 22, 2025, Consul General Xu Wei met with Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran in Hormozgan Province Reza Arbab Sadeghi, to introduce Chinese government’s position on opposing U.S. abuse of tariffs and exchange views on deepening China-Iran cooperation.

Consul General Xu said, the U.S. administration has imposed so-called “reciprocal tariffs” on global trading partners, putting its own interests over the public good of the international community and severely undermining the international economic and trade order. China has taken resolute countermeasures not only to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, but also to uphold fairness and justice for the international community. We are confident that Iran and the vast majority of countries will stand on the right side of history and act in their best interests.

Sadeghi highly commended Chinese government’s stance and said, the U.S. tariff actions will certainly be rejected by the international community and ultimately backfire. Over the years, the US has arbitrarily imposed illegal unilateral sanctions on Iran. Iran is ready to work with China to jointly resist U.S. bullying actions.
