On 23 April 2025, H.E. Yang Yang, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, presented the Letter of Credence to H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of Guyana at State House. Hon. Hugh Todd, Foreign Minister of Guyana, attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Yang conveyed to President Ali the warm greetings of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Yang noted that Guyana is China’s important partner in Caribbean region. With special attention and guidance of the two heads of state, China and Guyana have continuously deepened political mutual trust and steadily advanced practical cooperation. China stands ready to work with Guyana to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote bilateral relations to make new and greater achievements.
President Ali conveyed his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping through Ambassador Yang and noted that, China is Guyana’s good friend and good partner, and has made important contribution to the economic and social development and transformation of Guyana. The Guyanese side is willing to share opportunities and advance cooperation with China, and actively support Ambassador Yang in performing her duties.
Ambassador Yang presented the copy of the Letter of Credence to Mr. Ivan Evelyn, the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guyana, before the ceremony.
On 17 April, Ambassador Yang arrived in Guyana to assume office.
