On April 24, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Fei Mingxing attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the auxiliary works of China aid Samoa Apia Comprehensive Sports Venues. The Minister of Sports and Recreation of Samoa Honorable Mr. Laumatiamanu Ringo Purcell, and experts from the Chinese technical assistance team participated in the event.

Ambassador Fei stressed the Samoa Aquatic Center is not only a public sports facility that enriches the lives of residents, but also a witness to the friendly exchanges between China and Samoa and hoped both sides would work closely together to ensure high quality of the construction. Honorable minister Laumatiamanu thanked China’s assistance to the development of Samoan sports since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Samoa in1975 and looked forward to timely completion of the works.
