Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Attends Song and Dance Drama"The Mother River"

Consul General Chen Shijie attended song and dance drama "The Mother River" hosted by New Zealand Chinese Women's Association (CWA) on 27 April. Minister for Regulation David Seymour, Members of Parliament, Carmel Sepuloni, Jenny Salesa, Paulo Garcia, Lu Nan, and Camilla Belich attended the event. Vice Consul General Wang Junchao delivered remarks on behalf of the Consulate-General.

Wang noted that the the mother river is the cradle of civilizations, carrying the historical genes and cultural essence of all ethnic groups, and symbolizing the pursuit of openness, inclusiveness, and coexistence of beauty. Since its establishment 30 years ago, CWA has always cared about China’s development, committed itself to promoting gender equality and multi-cultural society, making positive contributions to people-to-people exchanges between China and New Zealand.

Besides Chinese community,cultural groups of more than ten countries took part in the performance. Consul General Chen presented a special award to Ms. Xu Qingmei, chief planner of the event, and took a group photo with all the guests and the performers.
