In order to implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, on April 25, the Accelerating Malaria Elimination Project which is a collaboration under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund between the Government of China and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, was officially launched. Ambassador Liu Jin of the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia attended the event and delivered a speech. The Minister of Health of The Gambia, the WHO representative in The Gambia, and representatives of the West Coast Region and community residents attended the event.
Ambassador Liu said that as a responsible developing country, China will continue to stand with the Global South. China and Gambia are good friends and partners. We will take practical actions to help the Gambian people get rid of malaria and move towards a healthier and more prosperous future.
