On April 29, 2025, Ambassador Cui Aimin met with Governor of Gotland County Charlotte Petri Gornitzka, and exchanged views on sub-national cooperation between China and Sweden. Deputy Governor Jesper Andersson and Chair of the Regional Assembly Håkan Onsjö attended the meeting.

Ambassador Cui briefed on China’s efforts to accelerate the fostering of a new development paradigm and promote high-quality development. He noted that China and Sweden share a long-standing friendship, maintain close economic and trade ties, and have great potential for cooperation. Gotland County has maintained long-term cooperation with China and contributed to the development of China-Sweden relations, particularly in sub-national cooperation. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sweden. Ambassador Cui expressed the hope that Gotland County would further leverage its strengths, deepen exchanges and cooperation with China, and help advance the development of China-Sweden relations.

Governor Gornitzka extended her warm welcome to Ambassador Cui’s visit and introduced the development of economic, green, and tourism industries of Gotland County. She expressed the willingness to continue strengthening economic and trade cooperation with China, particularly in the green and low-carbon sectors, and to enhance people-to-people exchanges and friendly interactions to better promote the well-being of both peoples.
