On April 30, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland hosted an Open Day event for students from Verzlunarskóli Íslands or the Commercial College of Iceland.
Ambassador He Rulong gave an overview of China’s national conditions, the friendly ties between China and Iceland, and the main responsibilities of the Embassy. He also answered students’ questions such as bilateral economic cooperation and trade, China-EU relations, and international perceptions of China.
The event is immersed in a lively and engaging atmosphere. Embassy staff interacted enthusiastically with the students, introducing them to traditional Chinese snacks and cultural activities such as trying on Hanfu and playing table tennis. The students also watched videos about China, including China Through Foreign Eyes and Ne Zha 2.
The students also toured the consular reception hall and gained insight into the day-to-day work of Chinese diplomats. Many remarked that the colorful and enriching activities of the event not only deepened their understanding of China but also sparked a strong interest in Chinese culture and society. They expressed strong interest in having an opportunity to visit China in the future.
