Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Pays a Courtesy Call on Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel

On May 5th, H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua, the newly appointed Ambassador of China to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shereena Abdul Samad, Assistant Secretary for China Affairs Javed Faizal as well as Minister-Counsellor Ms. He Fen, and Counselor Mr. Zhang Xu from the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Kong stated that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China–Maldives relations have continued to make steady progress, yielding tangible benefits for the people of both nations. He expressed China’s willingness to work closely with the Maldivian side to accelerate the implementation of important consensuses reached by the two heads of state, further consolidate strategic mutual trust, deepen development synergy, expand exchanges and cooperation, and jointly build a China–Maldives community with a shared future.

Minister Khaleel warmly welcomed Ambassador Kong’s assumption of office and spoke highly of Maldives–China relations. He expressed appreciation for China’s long-standing support for the Maldives’ development and its consistent respect and equal treatment. Minister Khaleel reaffirmed the Maldivian government’s firm commitment to the One-China Policy and expressed readiness to work with China to deepen practical bilateral cooperation, strengthen coordination in multilateral settings, and elevate Maldives–China relations to new heights.
