Consul General Chen Shijie attended the Inauguration Ceremony of the 2025 Council of the New Zealand Chinese Overseas Women Association and the Mother's Day Greeting Card Award Ceremony on 4 May. The event was also attended by President of the Association Mae Ding, President of the NZCFS Auckland Branch Mike Dawson, as well as representatives from the local Chinese community and award-winning guests of the competition.
In his speech, Chen extended congratulations to the newly elected council members of the Association, encouraging them to strive for further progress and contribute to the flourishing development of women's cause in the overseas Chinese community. He praised the selfless and profound love of mothers and acknowledged the contributions made by female compatriots in New Zealand to advancing China-New Zealand relations. Chen also encouraged them to further leverage their unique role as a bridge connecting the two nations, working alongside the Consulate-General to promote China-New Zealand relations to new heights.
The Mother's Day Greeting Card Competition awarded champions, runners-up, third-place winners, and excellence prizes in the adult, youth, and children's categories. During the event, overseas Chinese community members presented performances including songs and dances.
