On May 7, Chinese Ambassador to PNG, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang met with the new Secretary for Health of PNG, Mr.Ken Wai. The former Secretary for Health of PNG, Dr.Osborne Liko, Counselor Jiang Chengsen of the Chinese Embassy attended the meeting.

Ambassador Yang said that in recent years, China-PNG relations enjoyed sound and steady development, with frequent high-level exchanges, fruitful progress in practical cooperation across various fields, and ever-strengthening people-to-people bonds. China attaches great importance to developing relations with PNG, and the Chinese side is willing to keep with the “Four Fully Respects” and ““Three Nos” principles to promote bilateral cooperation in areas such as medical and health care, and help PNG enhance its comprehensive public health response capabilities.
Mr. Ken Wai reflected on the outcomes of last year’s visit to China, expressing gratitude for long-standing support of China to healthcare development of PNG and commending the significant contributions made by Chinese medical teams to PNG. He affirmed the commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation in the medical and health sector, actively drawing on the successful experience of China to promote the modern healthcare system of PNG.
