On May 7, 2025, Ambassador Cui Aimin gave an interview to the Swedish online media outlet NewsVoice. During the interview, he discussed about China-Sweden bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors. He also answered questions regarding China’s economic and social development, foreign policy, and the U.S. imposition of tariffs.
Ambassador Cui highlighted the longstanding friendship between China and Sweden, noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of carrying forward this traditional friendship, deepening practical cooperation, and promoting the sound and upward development of bilateral ties. He underscored that China adheres to a people-centered approach, advances whole-process people’s democracy, and is pursuing Chinese modernization through high-quality development. At the same time, China shares development opportunities with the world through high-standard opening-up and works together with all countries to build a community with a shared future for mankind. China firmly opposes the U.S. abuse of so-called “reciprocal tariffs” and will resolutely safeguard its own interests while upholding international economic and trade rules and defending global fairness and justice.
Additionally, Ambassador Cui provided an overview of the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS cooperation in response to further questions.
