On May 9, H. E. Wang Di, Chinese Ambassador to Canada, conducted an exclusive interview with Vassy Kapelos on Question Period, a premier political show of Canadian mainstream TV network CTV News.

Ambassador Wang pointed out that China and Canada have a profound historical foundation, great complementarities and actual needs for conducting practical cooperation. We should adopt a people's interest-oriented approach when we are growing our relationship, instead of allowing our relationship to be hijacked by ideological biases or dominated by the differences. Ambassador Wang highlighted that the unilateral and unjustified tariffs by the U.S. have damaged the interests of the people of all countries in the world.
