On May 13, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua held a meeting with representatives from Maldivian media. Minister Counsellor He Fen, Counsellor Zhang Xu, and young diplomats from the Embassy attended the event. Representatives from nearly 20 major Maldivian media, including the Maldivian Journal, PSM, and the Sun Online were invited to participate.

Ambassador Kong briefed attendees on the spirit of the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries and systematically introduced China's foreign policy and outlook on China-Maldives relations through the framework of building the peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home. During the interactive exchange, he addressed key concerns and responded to questions from the media on topics such as Chinese project developments in the Maldives and prospects for future China-Maldives cooperation.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Journalists expressed their appreciation for Ambassador Kong’s comprehensive presentation of China’s foreign policy. They praised the China-Maldives relationship as a model for equality between countries of different sizes and recognized China as a reliable friend of the Maldives. They also expressed their hope to continue close cooperation with the Embassy to better build a bridge between the peoples of the two countries and deepen the Maldivian public’s understanding of China and its people.
