On May 14, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Samoa Fei Mingxing attended the 6th "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" awarding ceremony, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Vice Chancellor and President of the National University of Samoa (NUS), Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Amosa, committing to doubling the number of scholarship recipients in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. Seventy teachers, students and parents including Vice President of NUS and the Samoan director of the Confucius Institute Dr. Peseta Desmond Lee-Hang were also in attendance.
Ambassador Fei congratulated the scholarship recipients, encouraging them to make due contribution to the national development of Samoa and China-Samoa cooperation. Professor Amosa expressed gratitude for China's support to education and youth development of Samoa, and stressed that NUS is willing to further deepen cooperation with China.
During the event, participants proactively exchanged views on topics regarding China-Samoa relations, bilateral practical cooperation, and joint response to climate change.
