Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles Holds “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition

On May 17th, the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles held the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition. Consul General Guo Shaochun attended the event and delivered a speech. Consul General’s wife, Madame Wang Wei, Deputy Consul General Guo Zhiqiang and Counselor Huang Wei were present. 16 winners from 5 State preliminaries participated in the competition.

Consul General Guo shared historical insights into the Chinese language and stated that the Chinese language, which encapsulates the millennia-old wisdom of the Chinese nation, has become a link connecting China and the global community. He encouraged the students to continue learning Chinese and serve as a bridge of communication between Chinese and American people. Guo also shared the stories of American young people visiting China. He encouraged the students to join the “50,000 in 5 Years” Initiative announced by President Xi Jinping and enrich their experiences through trips and study in China.

After intensive competition, Colorado students Thanachrid, Calvin and Hawaiian student Ana won the first prize of  the Elementary, Secondary School and College Group respectively. The winners will be recommended to join the Global Final Competition of “Chinese Bridge” in China.
