On May 20, Ambassador Zhao Weiping held his first press meeting this year at the Embassy, which was attended by journalists from more than 10 media agencies including the NBC, the Namibian Sun, New Era and the Namibian.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Zhao reaffirmed China’s position on opposing US abuse of tariff, made a briefing on the new development of China-Namibia relations and refuted the distortion of UNGA Resolution 2758 by some western countries. Ambassador Zhao touched on China’s experience in poverty eradication and achievements in Chinese modernization by sharing the books Eradicating Poverty and Up and Out of Poverty to the journalists. He pointed out that China will continue to provide assistance to Namibia's economic and social development and promote greater development of China-Namibia relations in the next five years.
Ambassador Zhao also answered questions from Namibian media on the cooperation between China and Namibia in the fields of economic cooperation and trade, education and energy.
