Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Pays Courtesy Call on Maldivian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources H.E. Ahmed Shiyam

On May 26, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua paid a courtesy call on the Maldivian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources H.E. Ahmed Shiyam. Minister Counselor Ms. He Fen of the Chinese Embassy and senior officials from the Maldivian Ministry of Fisheries were also present.

Ambassador Kong stated that, under the guidance of the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, China-Maldives fisheries cooperation has shown strong momentum and holds great potential. China is willing to work with the Maldives to further expand cooperation in the blue economy, increase the access of Maldivian seafood to the Chinese market, support the revitalization of the Maldives' distinctive fisheries industry, and contribute to building a China-Maldives community with a shared future, bringing benefits to the peoples of both countries.

H.E. Ahmed Shiyam welcomed Ambassador Kong's arrival and expressed appreciation for China’s strong support and selfless assistance. He emphasized that China is an important partner for the Maldives and expressed hope to deepen cooperation with China in fisheries development, aquaculture, and technical capacity building, so as to continuously elevate the level of fisheries cooperation between the two countries.
