On 26 May 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai met with Senator Aniekan Bassey, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, National Assembly of Nigeria.

Ambassador Yu stated that both China and Nigeria are populous countries, and food security is crucial to national development and stability. China is willing to further deepen cooperation with Nigeria in the agricultural sector by promoting technical exchanges, personnel training, disaster prevention and mitigation, as well as the manufacturing and adoption of agricultural machinery. He emphasized China's readiness to work hand in hand with Nigeria to advance its agricultural modernization. China also welcomes more high-quality Nigerian agricultural products into the Chinese market and will encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in agricultural projects in Nigeria, contributing to Nigeria’s food security and economic diversification.

Senator Bassey remarked that China is one of the main markets for Nigerian agricultural exports. He affirmed that Nigeria regards China as a key strategic partner and is willing to strengthen strategic cooperation with China to increase the added value of Nigerian agricultural products and create new market opportunities for the development of agriculture in the two countries.
