On May27th, H.E.Ambassador Xiao Jianguo met with Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II of Brunei Darussalam, to exchange views on the implementation of the outcomes of the state visit by His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to China in February this year.

Ambassador Xiao highlighted that during the state visit, the two heads of stateagreed to work towards a China-Brunei community with a shared future, opening a new chapter in bilateral relations. The Chinese side stands ready to work with Bruneian side to thoroughly implement the consensus between the two heads of state as well as the joint statement, by further enhancing high-level engagement, strengthening political mutual trust, deepening high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promoting people-to-people exchange, so as to achieve solid progress in the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future.

Pehin Halbi spoke highly of the successful state visit and reaffirmed Brunei’s steadfast commitment to the one-China policy. He also emphasized that Brunei is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and make new contributions to the development of Brunei-China relations.
