On May 28, Ambassador Fan Yong paid a courtesy call to Hon. Ignitius Moswaane, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, to exchange views on strengthening friendly bilateral cooperation. 

Ambassador Fan noted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana. Over the past 50 years, the two sides have carried out practical cooperation in various fields. China-Aided projects have made significant contributions to improving people’s livelihoods in Botswana. China is willing to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation with Botswana in areas such as poverty alleviation, promoting traditional cultural heritage and local exchange，and enhancing governance capacity.

Hon. Moswaane expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for its assistance to Botswana over the years and introduced the functions of the Ministry. He said that Botswana is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China and welcomes more reputable Chinese enterprises to invest and share the new development opportunities in Botswana.
