Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Attends the Signing Ceremony for the Letters of Exchange on the China-Maldives Friendship Hospital Project

On June 4, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua, attended the signing ceremony for the letters of exchange on the Villimale China-Maldives Friendship Hospital Project. Also present were Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and Minister of Health Mr. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim. Counselor Mr. Zhang Xu from the Chinese Embassy gave a presentation on the progress of the project.

Ambassador Kong stated that healthcare is one of the most essential public services a government can provide for its people. Strengthening China-Maldives cooperation in the health sector is a key part of implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state and advancing the building of a China-Maldives community with a shared future. Fully funded by the Chinese government, the China-Maldives Friendship Hospital will be modern, fully equipped and technologically advanced, further improving the public health services in the Maldives.

The Maldivian side expressed its sincere gratitude for China's assistance, emphasizing that China is a key partner of the Maldives. The China-Maldives Friendship Hospital marks an important step forward in bilateral healthcare cooperation. They expressed hope that China will continue to deepen cooperation with the Maldives and help improve the well-being of the Maldivian people.
