On June 4-5, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna co-hosted the conference “UNODC and Beijing +30: Women, Justice, and Security in a Changing World” with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Swedish and other Permanent Missions. Ambassador Li Song, UNODC Executive Director Ghada Waly, UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous, and others delivered remarks. Over 600 participants, including permanent representatives and experts from various countries attended the event. 

Ambassador Li spoke highly of the milestone significance of the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women for global gender equality, highlighted the historic achievements in women’s development made by China and the world over the past 30 years. He noted that, as a follow-up to President Xi Jinping’s proposal, in the latter half of this year, China will co-host the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment with UN Women in Beijing to discuss major issues for empowering women’s development and to open a new chapter for global women’s development.
