On June 5, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana held a reception in commemoration of 53rd Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Guyana & in honor of Ambassador Yang Yang. H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, Hon. Prime Minister Brigadier Mark Phillips, Hon. Foreign Minister Hugh Todd, Hon. Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh attended the event.
In her remarks, Ambassador Yang noted that over the past 53 years of diplomatic ties, China and Guyana have achieved fruitful results in cooperation across various fields, setting a vivid example of equality, mutual assistance, and win-win cooperation for big countries and small ones. She vowed to work with Guyana to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State, promote the steady and sustainable growth of China-Guyana relations, upgrading of practical cooperation, vibrant people-to-people exchanges and international cooperation with both increased scale and expanded scope, and shape an even brighter future for bilateral relations.
President Ali expressed his gratitude to China's for its invaluable and visible contribution to Guyana's development in a broad spectrum, reaffirmed Guyana's firm adherence to the One-China Policy. The Guyanese government will fully support Ambassador Yang, deepen the treasured partnership and explore new areas of further cooperation.
