Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo Has Friendly Exchanges with Taiwan Graduates Association of Brunei

On 8th June, H.E.Ambassador Xiao Jianguo had friendly exchanges with representatives from the Taiwan Graduates Association of Brunei.

Ambassador Xiao spoke highly of the long-term contributions made by the Association to Brunei's socio-economic development and the friendship between China and Brunei. He recalled the history of Taiwan, and stressed that Taiwan has belonged to China since ancient times, which was proved by sound basis in history and jurisprudence. He emphasized that Taiwan’s restoration to China is a victorious outcome of the Second World War and an integral part of the postwar international order. The one-China principle was confirmed by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 2758, and is an established international consensus and a basic norm in international relations.

Ambassador Xiao expressed his hope that the Association could continue to adhere to the one-China principle, firmly oppose the ‘Taiwan independence’ in all its forms, and actively support the development of China-Brunei relations and the reunification of its country of origin.

Mr. Alex Lo Wan Yee, President of the Association and other members reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle andexpressed their willingness to continue promoting the development of Brunei-China relations and make contributions to the reunification of its country of originthrough concrete actions.
