Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Guo Shaochun Attends the Centennial Birthday Celebration of Flying Tiger Melvin McMullen

On June 8, Consul General Guo Shaochun and his wife, Mme. Wang Wei attended the centennial birthday celebration of Flying Tiger Melvin McMullen. The event also brought together U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation Jeffrey Greene, as well as members of the McMullen family and close friends.

Consul General Guo extended his heartfelt wishes to Mr. McMullen on the occasion of his 100th birthday. In his remarks, Guo spoke highly of McMullen and the Flying Tigers for their selfless contributions to the Chinese people’s fight against Japanese aggression. He paid profound tribute to McMullen and all Flying Tigers, noting that the spirit of the Flying Tigers shows the power of cooperation and friendship between the Chinese and American peoples. He expressed hope that this spirit would be passed down from generation to generation, continuing to shine with new brilliance in the new era.

Guests warmly conveyed their heartfelt wishes to Mr. McMullen, expressing sincere wishes for a long-lasting and ever-deepening friendship between Amercian and Chinese people. Consul General Guo also presented Mr. McMullen with an exquisite Suzhou embroidery ornament featuring giant pandas, as a token of profound respect and sincere admiration.
