On June 11, the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands held an event at the Peace Palaceto celebrate the first United Nation International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations.

Over 200 guests invited by the Chinese Embassy and the “Diplomat Magazine” attended, including the President and judges of theInternational Court of Justice (ICJ), Dutch government officials, diplomats and representatives to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the Netherlands, heads of international institutions based in the Netherlands, representatives from the Chinese enterprises, and Chinese communities in the Netherlands.
The event featured video remarks by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. Ambassador Tan Jian highlighted China’s Global Civilization Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, advocating the respect for the diversity of civilizations and the common values of humanity, calling for dialogue, mutual learning and building a community with a shared future for mankind.
During the event, Ambassador Tan, on behalf of the Chinese side, presented the scroll paintingabout civilization to the ICJ. The International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations was designated by the UN Resolution adopted last year.
