Updated: June 25, 2025 15:36(From Chinese Embassy in Kenya)

On June 24, the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa(AGRA), Beijing Jingwa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Center and other partners held 2025 China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology and Industry Cooperation Forum in Nairobi. More than 200 representatives from the government, businesses, universities, research institutes, and international organizations attended the forum. Ambassador Guo Haiyan attended the forum and delivered the opening speech.

Ambassador Guo said that agricultural modernization is one of the priorities of China-Africa cooperation. China has launched the Plan for China Supporting Africa’s Agricultural Modernization in 2023 and initiated the Agriculture and Livelihood Partnership Action at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, featuring agricultural technology cooperation, trade facilitation of agri-products, upgrading agricultural industrial chain, value addition and international collaboration with numerous progress made ever since.

She said that two weeks ago China declared that it would expand the zero-tariff treatment for 100% of tariff lines to all 53 African countries that have diplomatic ties with China, which would bring more agri-products from Kenya and other African countries even closer to the enormous Chinese market. She hopes that the businesses and research institutes from both sides could capture the opportunities and join hands to advance agricultural modernization for shared development.
