On June 20, Ambassador Huang Shifang attended and delivered a speech at the seminar “New Silk Road, New perspective for China and Mauritius” held at the China Cultural Center in Mauritius. The event brought together around 50 participants, including representatives from Mauritian academia, the business community, mainstream media and the local Chinese associations and societies.Yang Jun, Director of the China Cultural Center in Mauritius, also joined the seminar.
Ambassador Huang noted that in the autumn of 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road. Today, this initiative has grown into a global development corridor—supported by modern infrastructure like railways, highways, ports, airports, and digital networks—connecting countries and facilitating the flow of goods, capital, technology, and people. She emphasized that Mauritius, with its unique geographical advantages and favorable financial and investment environment, plays an important role in the global connectivity network. Ambassador Huang expressed her hope that this seminar would generate new ideas for China-Mauritius cooperation along the New Silk Road and inject strong momentum into the sustainable economic and social development of both countries.
